Gallops of Oman 2014

In February 2014, the first edition of the « Gallops » concept had taken place in the Sultanate of Oman in the Wahiba Sands desert. Widely considered as the biggest event in the world in terms of gathering the largest number of horses and participants, Gallops of Oman has brought together 110 international riders from 10 nations (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Oman, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA), split into 22 teams of 5 people, and as many Arabian horses.

The 5 days equestrian race has focused on the ability of riders, and the endurance abilities of the horses, over 180 kilometres of some of the most beautiful yet challenging sandy landscapes in Oman, from the doors of El Mintrib desert to the shores of the Arabian Sea.

Gallops of Oman 2014 was definitely a big success: an important international and Omanis media coverage, a great opportunity for the Omanis Ministry of Tourism to promote the Sultanate of Oman, only enthusiastic riders’ testimonials, and a long “waiting list” of new participants for a second edition.
